The Live Oak is an excellent tree for providing shade and privacy. Fully mature Live Oaks reach 40-50 feet tall, growing about 1-2 feet per year. The ideal conditions for planting a live oak are in full sun, with well-drained, sandy soil and plenty of moisture. However, these are tough trees that will tolerate less favorable, drier, and more compacted soils.
